Today there are many surgical options to manage refractive errors. It is not a case of one procedure working for all. At Méndez Lasik Institute we are known for advising the best choice to every patient according to his/her visual needs after a detailed research.
Not everyone can be a potential candidate to undergo LASIK procedure. It's necessary to consult a qualified ophthalmologist in order to have certainty if a patient can undergo LASIK or not.
Nevertheless, there are a few basic rules to be followed to every refractive procedure:
- The prospect should have healthy eyes. This means there must be no other illnesses affecting his/her eyes aside from the refractive error.
- It is convenient to have stability in refraction, that's why children are not considered prospects because their sight and/or prescription will evolve with growth, so a surgery now may not be useful in the future.
- Pregnant or lactating women are not LASIK prospects
