Presbyopia

A presbyopia (or "short arm disease") condition makes the natural eye lens stop from moving, so ability to focus close-range images seems interrupted. This is why we need reading glasses, which don't allow us to have a clear visibility at far-range.

Miopia

Presbyopia first symptoms come at 40, approximately. A handicap for focusing on close-range, having to move to a brighter place for reading and having to stretch our arm to read clearly are some of these symptoms.

Refractive surgery corrects vision in the whole visual field without the need to place any foreign objects on the cornea. Once done, frame glasses or contact lenses are not required to have an adequate vision. This surgical procedure is the best alternative to correct refractive deficiencies such as myopia, astigmatism and hypermetropy.

Today there are methods to correct presbyopia, from monovision with Conductive Keratoplasty, excimer laser or Multifocal Intraocular Lenses. Nevertheless, we are not all candidates for just one procedure, so an evaluation by specialists at Méndez Lasik Institute can tell you the best option.
