PRK is a refractive surgery in which the doctor applies the excimer laser over the corneal stroma to modify the cornea's curvature and correct the refractive error. This surgical procedure requires an accurate examination of the visual problem to be treated in order to have the right amount of energy delivered by the laser over the corneal surface.
This surgical procedure is used to correct refraction errors as myopia and astigmatism.
After the procedure, the patient will experiment the sensation of an outside object in the eye as well as dry eye or tear flowing for two to three days.
