Myopia (Nearsightedness)

A person with myopia is able to see things at close-range, but long-range vision is blurry. With this refractive deficiency, images are focused before they reach the retina, most of the time this is caused by an increase in the eye's axial length.

Miopia

It is a refractive deficiency in which the cornea is too long.

Nowadays, nearsightedness can be corrected by different procedures such as frame glasses, contact lenses or laser surgeries. The laser surgical procedures able to correct nearsightedness with excellent results, helping patients to be free of frame glasses or contact lenses are: Lasik, and Photorefractive Keratomy (PRK) and Lasek.
