Cataracts
Cataracts are a cloudiness formed in what should be a clear and transparent zone of the lens. A fair comparison can be that to a frosted glass. The quantity of cloudiness can vary from eye to eye and also among patients. In an eye suffering from cataracts, light disperses through the eye instead of focusing in the retina.
Symptoms:
- Blurry vision (with no pain)
- Sensibility to light
- Poor/weak night vision
- Double vision
- Need of bright light for reading
- Faded colors
Causes:
- Family Medical History
- Diabetes
- Ocular Injuries
- Some kinds of medication, especially steroids
- Long-term non-protected exposure to light
- Previous surgery
Treatment:
Surgery is the only known treatment for cataracts. There is no medication, dietary supplement or exercise known to avoid or delay cataracts.
